7) Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
In our preliminary task we made a few errors that we tried to avoid in the main task. For example some of the shot styles were not put in the right ways and made the piece look silly. The actors tended to look at the cameras at certain stages which didn’t look right. When we were filming we made sure that all the pieces were correct by reviewing them several times to check for this mistake. Another key error was with the editing software. This was because some of our shots didn’t flow right and looked fairly jumpy. This time I have learned how to use the editing software better so i made sure that this error was not included in our piece.

6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
During this course I have learned a variety of different skills used to complete my project. First off I have learned how to use the internet to find different bits of information about films related to our project. Another key piece of information I have learned is how to use the cameras effectively. This has helped our group to get all the shots we needed for our film. Thirdly the most important skills I learned is how to use the editing software correctly. Because of my lack of knowledge for the preliminary I had make a few errors involving continuity issues. This was then solved when I did the main task.
5) How did you attract/address your audience?
We have based our film around American football as we know that the target audience is fans of the sport. Also we wanted to widen our target audience so we added some elements of comedy so that other people would be interested as well. This film is quite realistic so it can be applied to real life situations. This is good because some people don’t like fantasy stories and will be more attracted to our film.
4) Who would be the audience for your product?
The audience for our product is teenagers aged between 13 and 20. This is because our film is a comedy and I believe that this type of film attracts teenagers. Our film has a similar storyline to the film the longest yard which was a massive hit with people of this particular age range. Another audience is the mad American football fans as this film is based around American football.
3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our film would be distributed by touchstone pictures or a similar company. I chose this company because it was the company that distributed similar films such as waterboy. Another company that I would chose would be a small British company as it is local and makes it easier to do.

2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our film has a traditional geek in it as the main character so we see what life is like at school for someone from this particular social group. Also we have a bully as the American football player which represents what this type of person is like in real life. These two groups of people come into conflict throughout the film so we get a better insight to what the different social groups are like in the real world. In our film we have a stereotype of a geek. We have looked at ideas from how geeks are displayed in other films such as waterboy and used them when designing the costume for our geek.
Evaluation
1) In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our films genre is comedy. In a traditional comedy most of the actors make jokes or try to make funny actions so that the audience will laugh. In our film we did a toilet scene where the geek is flushed down a toilet. This is the same sort of stuff that would be in a comedy such as waterboy. Most people have their actors dressed funny so that they are naturally funnier. Because we didn’t have any dialogue in our film we decided to make good use of this technique. We dressed the geek in a way that would make people laugh which would follow other comedy features.

Mise en scène
There are many factors that contribute to mise en scène. One of them is the props. This is about weather all of the props are in the right place. Another factor of mise en scène is the lighting. This is about where the lighting should be on set and that it focuses on the right parts of action. My final factor is costume. this is basically the costumes worn by the actors and weather it suits the scene or not.

In the introduction the room is pitch black and all you can hear is people screaming at each other. when the lights turn on the sound of sparks can be heard in the background. No other sound effects or music is used in the opening scene.
Lighting
The lights are turned off at the start of the film but after some speech they are turned on suddenly and we are shown clips of the lights flickering on and off before they stay on. The title of the film emerges in the dark and is written in bright colors so that your full attention is drawn to it. Then the title fades away in a misty effect. This then leaves the plain black screen used to start the opening of the film.

Main task synopsis
In our media film it will be based on a 16 year old boy who has applied for a place in Plymouth University. He makes it into the university and does not realise that he is quite different to all the other children. Because he is classed as a geek by all the other kids he is severely bullied by them and his school life looks as if it’s going to be a living hell. As a practical joke a group of boys decide to sign him up for the American football team thinking that he will be easy to take down and will make a fool of himself in front of all the school. When he is forced to go to football practice by the team he realises that he has the best throw that the school has ever seen. Because of his talent the team become friendlier towards him and don’t bully him. The only problem is that the rest of the school still bully him and make his life hell. The boy becomes angry and asks one of the more popular guys in the team to teach him how not to be a geek. This goes badly and makes things worse. He is assigned the role as quarter back and he plays in the first game of the league. Unfortunately he is taken down left right and centre and his concentration is distracted by the crowed making jokes about him. This makes the team lose the game. The coach however still believes that he has the ability to win and decides to give him some one to one training sessions that will train him to withstand tackles better and be able to make better plays. After being placed on the bench for the rest of the season he is felling rejected but still wants to play. On the last game of the season the replacement quarter back is reported injured and the boy is asked to take his place. The whole team is feeling like there is no point to the game because he will fail like last time but they don’t know that he has been training and has improved lots. When the boy scores the first points the team realise that he is better and become friendlier towards him and support him. Because of this they win the match and win the league. The boy is then better respected but realises that he hasn’t put any effort into his studies and knows that he is going to fail all his exams. All of the members from the football team put all their knowledge together and create a book that has all the information that the boy will need to pass his exams. He spends the next few days reading the book and when it comes to his exam day he smiles at his exam paper and his confidence makes him succeed. There is an end of year party and the boy finds the love of his life and he dances with her and they get together and have the best time of their lives. At the end of the film we get shown a future clip of the boy’s life and what he did with himself after university. We see that he carries on training and joins the Arizona diamonds football team and gets fame and fortune. Then we see he gets married and has two kids with the woman from the party. Are group has had to adjust a few ideas because at first we had are setting in america but realised that none of us have an american accent so we have changed the name to plymouth university as it is in england so we can use are normal voices.
Weather conditions
we were going to film on friday but noticed that it was very foggy so this men that we couldnt film the scenes of juno because it would look funny if half of it was done in foggy conditions and the other half in normal conditions.
Group meeting
we had a group meeting on friday 27th of november units 3 and 4 so we could discuss the possibilities of places to film our opening sequence to juno. during this meeting we have made some good progress and have found some possible places that we could use for the filming. we are still however trying to find a good place to try and attempt the overhead shot.we should be meeting most fridays so that we can sort things out and soon make a start on the actual filming.
